Hats off to Rancho Nicasio for bringing together beer, brunch and barstools for Super Bowl-watching. Even if you’re into just ONE of these things, you get the added bonus of west Marin’s rolling hillsides all around you, a plein air painter’s dream.
This coupled with a lively lineup of theater, music and Valentine’s cupcake decorating make for yet another incredible weekend in Marin.
Enjoy!

5 FUN THINGS TO DO IN MARIN
Pssst… be sure to check out last week’s Valentine’s Day “PLAN AHEAD” edition for extra lovey-dovey date night ideas… while those reservations last!
1. When Doves Cry (Prince Tribute) – Novato, 2/7
Hear (and watch!) the entire Purple Rain album, performed by Sacramento-based Prince tribute band, When Doves Cry. They’ve performed over 200 shows (105 sold out) with 40+ dates throughout North America in 2026. Guitarist, Zak says: "We all grew up on Prince's music. Performing, and playing it on stage, brings a lot of us full circle, back to the huge influence he was on us as we were developing as musicians. The huge influence he continues to be. We love meeting other fans and celebrating his musical legacy." Get those tickets now!
2. Performance: The Skin of Our Teeth, Novato Theater Company
The Skin of Our Teeth is Thornton Wilder’s bold, three-part allegory of human survival. It follows the Antrobus family through ages of natural disaster, war, and renewal. Blending surrealist comedy with epic drama, the play captures humanity’s continual struggle to endure “by the skin of our teeth”—an urgent message in today’s world of conflict and climate crisis.
Here’s what the REAL theater critics say…
This is not an easy play to produce, describe or watch, but it is a play worth the effort.
– Beulah F. Vega, North Bay Stage and Screen
If you’re a fan of Monty Python fun, this is the show to see. Kudos to director Nic Moore for lassoing such talented zaniness and effects into one entertaining production.
– Cari Lynn Pace, Pacific Sun
I've said it before, and here I am saying it again: if you are forgoing attending shows at Novato Theater Company because of its rather odd location (a tiny strip mall on a frontage road of the 101 freeway), you're missing out on some of the most interesting and heartfelt theatrical experiences the North Bay has to offer. For the second show of the company's 105th(!) season, they have chosen one of the most unusual, boundary-breaking works of theatre ever written, Thornton Wilder's The Skin of Our Teeth.
– Patrick Thomas, Talkin’ Broadway
3. Cupcakes! Valentine’s Cupcake Decorating Workshop, Ross, 2/8
